Hilka Aline Dirks was born in Steglitz (Berlin, Germany) in the early ‘90s. Following the brutal years of gymnasium, Dirks earned her first degree in Early Childhood Education and worked as a kindergarten instructor. This period represents the beginning of a focused artistic enterprise. Dirks has participated in numerous group-shows as well as published texts and can frequently be found designing/editing art books.

The art she makes – whether a thing or an encounter within the realm of ideas – always tickles with kindness; a gentle provocation aimed at both the materials with which she works and the viewer who sees it. Every project is an experiment, every experiment a mysterious invitation.
